G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours
Dear G Fam Black,
Thank you once again for participating in this interview. I know you don’t do many press features, and this is a wonderful chance for your fans to learn a bit about you while still keeping some of that mystery. I truly appreciate it.Questions & Answers:
1. Are you originally from Brockton Massachusetts? And where are the best places to eat?
Absolutely, I was born and raised in Brockton. There are plenty of great food spots here. For the best chicken, I’d recommend “Yas Chicken” and “Birdies Hot Chicken”, which are both fantastic. For breakfast, I have to mention “Alexander's Family Restaurant”. They’ve been around since I was a kid, and their omelets are incredible. For pizza, “Cape Cod Cafe Pizza” is the way to go—it's the best bar pizza in the world, a true South Shore Massachusetts specialty. A lot of towns near Brockton brag about having the best bar pizza, but they can't compete.
For Chinese food, I’d suggest “Golden Corner” and “Mee King Garden”. However, nothing beats my auntie's wings and mac at her place on the eastside. I’d choose that over anything else!
2. Would you ever ghostwrite for another artist? And how do you feel about artists that do?Nah. I don't agree with that shit at all. If you cant write you cant rap. Straight up and down. That shit corny to me... BUT... if someone offered a big enough bag, fuck it why not? Haha
3. Are there artists and producers on your Wishlist? If so, who and why?
TBH my favorite emcees and producers are the ones in my group Knuckle Dragguz. P-Ro, Tali Rodriguez, CLOAQxDAGGER and UglyJon make up the Knuckle Dragguz producers, but there's a few I wanna work with definitely. I would love a joint with Conway The Machine. Also Vinnie Paz. I feel like we would compliment each other on tracks. Other producers would be Stu Bangaz based off his production being made for me. The RZA or Premo would be crazy too. And of course The Alchemist and Muggs.
4. What shows do you binge watch? And do you have a top 5 movie and show list? If so, what are they?
Man.. That's one thing I don't do too much of. I spend the majority of my time grinding and working on music. I don't fuck with "Power" and all that. I don't even wanna start it because, I might get pulled in. I fuck with some documentaries though. I be liking that crime shit and how they be catching mother-fucker's. I fuck with comedy like stand-up and shit like that. And I catch a few podcasts like Brilliant Idiots and Rory and Mal. But if there's some shit just playing in the background its probably comedy or some type of doc.
5. Any hobbies besides rap? What are they?
I gamble. Haha. If it's the casino or in the apps betting on sports. I wouldn't say its a problem, but I definitely lost my last a few times and had to start from scratch again. Its that adrenaline rush that I love. Probably not a hobby but I burn a gang of trees. I'm always lookin for a new strain to smoke on. And I create digital art too. I cannot draw for nothing though. I leave all that work to P-Ro the Artist/Producer/Rapper.
6. Who got you into Hip-Hop/Rap? Was it a particular artist(s)?
As a fan the first cat that I was a huge fan of was Biggie. That's what got me addicted. He was a big ugly nigga that ain't care he walked with a cane and had a crooked eye. Dude just jumped on the mic and demanded attention from the listener.
Heads that made me think I could do it myself, was the local scene. Heads like Edo G., REKS, Termanology, and Krumbsnatcha. Seeing heads from my State do it made me realize you ain't have to be from NY or LA or ATL to do this shit.
7. Have you ever battle rapped? And would you return a diss record, if someone mentioned your name in a record?
I freestyle battled heads locked up, but it wasn't no high level shit. It was just simple shit.
As far as returning a diss record, I'm not ruling it out. But not if its just some bum ass rapper tryna make a name. Some corny no name white boy from Canada dissed me in a song once. I'm not sayin his name though. And good luck finding it, because NO ONE knows this fuckboy.
8. How do you create music so rapidly? Do you sleep in the studio?
Hahaha. I get that question a lot. I'm definitely a different type of individual. There's probably a couple factors.
I think the main reason is because I spent a lotta time alone in my life. Whether it was locked up or even as a kid. I'm constantly writing in my head. There's probably 10 times the material floating around up there than I ever laid down on tracks.
Another reason is, who I surround myself with. My whole team is dumb with it. Stupid productive. P-Ro my main man and my tag team partner in this shit. That dude like the white version of me. So we always pushing ourselves. Same with Tali Rodgriguez, CLOAQxDAGGER, and Ugly. Its hard to slack when you build with giants you feel me?
9. You have a record about politics that is on the no love side. Are you into politics? Do you believe politics is a distraction?
So, I'm not heavy into politics but I got a few records I released through the years. But the latest one "Gimme Back My Vote" is me basically voicing the peoples opinion as well as mines. This shit come from my whole community. Everyone I break bread with, family, extended family, etc. In and out of Brockton. The whole system is set to keep us in a trap. So every now and then I get in that bag. And its my most stand out shit to fans too because I always get more feedback on them joints.
10. Do you crate dig or leave it up to the producers? And do you produce yourself?
I don't produce and I don't crate dig, but I do online sometimes. If I hear some rare shit I want, I'll send it over to the team and ask them to flip it for me. Or even if it's not for me, I'll send samples over. But luckily I got dope ass producers that feed me so much heat I don't really need to.
What I do a lot of is look for samples from movies and interviews to use for interludes and intros and shit like that. A lot of producers send beats an just trust that I can help build the landscape off the canvas. I usually have a vision of what I want to do with a joint so I like picking those type of samples.
11. How important is family and having a good circle of friends around you? Have you ever had to cut off family or friends?
Family and close friends is mad important. But the key word is "good". I cut off more than I kept in the circle.
Humans are definitely flawed. Jealousy, money, pussy, freedom, addiction, all that shit will have a person turn on you. I learned that in Jr High. Probably the reason I don't let many mother-fuckers in. I had to cut off my closest family over that shit.
Fortunate for me I got the dopest stand up team around me. Knuckle Dragguz really my brothers not just in music. None of my brothers ever snaked me and vice versa.
12. Do you play board or card games? If so, what are your favorites?
I ain't played shit in awhile G but I used to play dominoes back in the day. And my ex mom had me playing spades every night back when I was a teenager. Now I mainly play in the casinos and some poker games at a club house out here in Brockton.
Back in the day I would get real violent over losing a game of monopoly though. I flipped a gang of coffee tables over that shit. And I got a scar still from a fight during a monopoly game.
13. What are your goals in the near future to strengthen your catalog?
So I'm over 50 projects deep at this point and I've done a lot of shit I didn't expect to do already. But I'm just tryna keep building the Knuckle Dragguz legacy bro. I wanna keep working with my team and other like minded individuals and just keep creating.
I'm gonna slow down at some point, but not at this point. Haha. I'm going to keep doing features with heads too and keep my name in peoples ears and shit. My goal is to have more fun than anything else. I've done albums for money and its not as satisfying as just building with dope heads.
14. Are you a holiday person? If so, what are your favorite holidays and why?
Nah man I'm not big into them. Them shits be depressing to me. Halloween is dope and it brings back memories of being a teen and masked up and doing dirt though. Back before I cared about the consequences of my actions. Haha. But holidays just another day to me. I'd rather just, get up and get money and put food in the cabinet. And also to get my drink on all night. Haha.
15. There are other masked rappers. Who are your favorites, besides yourself?
Yeah, man first and foremost DOOM. Dude was a problem with the bars but more than the music I loved his mystique about it. No one could get away with sending another artist to perform at a show as he did these days. DOOM was a genius. There's a lot more rappers these days though that are masked up.
I don't know if I consider GENERALBACKPAIN a masked rapper, but he don't show his face and he's a problem. Inglewood's finest. Me and him linked years ago and formed the group Derelict Division. He's one of my favorite emcees still to this day. We got an EP and an LP out if you haven't heard it. Some of my favorite material.
Another team I fuck with heavy is No Face Krew. Between Bondalero, me and New Villain we probably got a dozen or more records already out. But that whole team is stupid talented and motivated. We definitely gonna keep building and you gonna see more collaborations between Knuckle Dragguz and No Face Krew real soon.
THE END!
Ceverely Yours,
Marquis Walker
