Lil' Kim - "The Naked Truth" Album REVIEW

The Naked Truth is the fourth studio album by Lil' Kim and was released on September 27th, 2005. Rated 5 MICS from the Source Magazine and remains the only female album rated from the magazine to this day. Sold over 2.7 Million worldwide. Now, what do you think? My thoughts below.

Review:

This album dropped a week after Lil' Kim began her jail rap. I'm not going to get into her sentencing and her bid, but I will say, she's a stand up woman and is well respected in the Hip-Hop community. Kim is our Hip-Hop Martha Stewart.

With the album title, you would of thought she would be butt-naked on this joint. Kimberly Jones gave us the opposite and bared her soul by just including her face. They say the eyes are the window of the soul and Ms. Jones gave us just that on this Project.

Intro
Just the press snapping pics and asking questions to the Queen before or after she enters or leaves the court room.

Spell Check
"Bitch as guys/ 'Cause they took the stand on the D.A.'s side". Kim discredits her prior Junior Mafia group with bars that are fierce. This beat is uptempo and you may need a neck brace after. Great record and flow. Reminds me of K-Solo on "Spell Bound" a bit with a smoother flow.

Lighter's Up
One of her only singles the record company put out. This was produced by heavy weight producer Scott Storch who's had drug troubles, but is clean currently and working with artist. This track is still hotter than fish grease. And Kim's bars highlight the street anthem. "...Biggest sex symbol since Janet."

Shut Up B***h Intro
Legendary comedian Kat Williams contributes to the album with checking all her fans. It's funny and entertaining. Pimps up, hoes down baby.

Shut Up B***h
This is all about the rumors that were and still surround Lil' Kim. And this track addresses all the rumors and she checks all her haters. She even checks Wendy Williams and Star Jones. Ms. Kim makes sure people shut up. Kat Williams is back at the end to finish checking b***hes.

Whoa
This track bangs like guns at a shooting range. Not sure if you been to one, but there is much fire power there. Gun lovers love the loud and power full hammers just like this track. And Kim doesn't pull back on the diss tracks on this album by going in again on Junior Mafia. The good news, I believe she is cool with a couple of members presently.

Slippin
These beats seem flawless on this album and this one is one of my favorites. The chorus is a highlight as well. Kim is telling her story and she is very naked on this joint. She goes in on her what she can spit about her case and how much time she got. She also reminds the world where she's from and what she is all about.

Answering Machine Skit 1
The classic answering machine skit that reflects her friends and family showing love.

All Good
Just when you thought there were no more beats in the chamber, producer Jeekyman adds to the shootout. With Biggie on the hook, with "It's All Good!" Kim makes sure she kills the vocal booth. This is one of my favorite joints Kim has ever made. #RIPBIG

I Know You See Me
This track Kim returns to her Queen B. bag speaking about flossing again. This seems like a double album in one, based off the topics. If you were going away for a year, would you put out a lot of tracks? This beat is smooth and gives us the old Kim back. Seems like she is happy on this track.

W.P.I.M.P.
Kat Williams is back talking trash and making sure y'all don't forget Kim is that chick.

Quiet Ft. The Game
Rapper The Game joins Kim on this West Coast sounding beat, but just on the chorus. Kim is back dissing these clown booty rappers.

Durty
Kim gets in her durty durty reggae Birkin bag while, Adele Givens jumps in blessing the track with comedy. You would think just reading this without listening to this, the track would be corny. Nope! I have to give it to Kim, this track along with the album just works.

Answering Machine Skit 2
It's a continuation of her friends and family telling Kim she still got love from the outside. It's hilarious when here Donald Trumps praise on this skit. Hip-Hop use to look up to this dude. LMAO!

We Don't Give a F**k Ft. Bun B & Twista
Kim goes down south to rap with heavy weight spitters Bun B and Twista. This is Kim's actual attempt on rapping faster. Nothing like when Biggie rapped with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, but pretty good. I actually like this track better than the BIG track. Fight me in the comments.

Gimme That Ft. Maino
Kim returns to her call me Kimberly Jones if your nasty bag. Maino fits perfectly on this joint as they trade bars back on giving each other good sex bars. "I got the tightest, rightest virgina!" - Lil' Kim

Kitty Box
This track sounds like it's Arabian and Aladdin is about to pop out Lil' Kim's Kitty Box when she rubs it. It was a track that actually isn't that bad once you get into the lyrics. Listen, I had a crush on Kim prior to all the surgery. And she didn't look like a Mannequin during this album, so I still craved her.

Kronik Ft. Snoop Dogg
Snoop brings Kim back to the West Coast and passes the Kronik. This weed song sounded like it should of been on the actual Chronic album with Dr. Dre. It does stand out on this project, but it's a good record. Like The Game, Snoop Dogg doesn't provide any bars, but just speaks his P.I.M.P. TALK.

Winners and Losers Skit
Guess who's back talking trash. Yes, Kat Williams.

Get Yours Ft. T.I. & Sha-Dash
Kim is back down South with T.I. and Sha-Dash (Not sure who this is and where he's from) where they actually bring a party and bounce vibe to the East Coast.

Last Day
This track is so grimy and sinister. One of my favorites to this day. The Chorus is sexy and Kim is going in with telling the world she will be giving her best until her last day on this planet. She knows she is the only one that can stop her.

Last Day Skit
Kim and her sister telling people that people are not as strong as they use to be. Also, there plans on the future after the bid.

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours Dear G Fam Black, Thank you once again for participating in this interview. I know you don’t do many press features, and this is a wonderful chance for your fans to learn a bit about you while still keeping some of that mystery. I truly appreciate it. Peace, G. I’m grateful for this opportunity! - G Fam Black Questions & Answers: 1. Are you originally from Brockton Massachusetts? And where are the best places to eat? Absolutely, I was born and raised in Brockton. There are plenty of great food spots here. For the best chicken, I’d recommend “Yas Chicken” and “Birdies Hot Chicken”, which are both fantastic. For breakfast, I have to mention “Alexander's Family Restaurant”. They’ve been around since I was a kid, and their omelets are incredible. For pizza, “Cape Cod Cafe Pizza” is the way to go—it's the best bar pizza in the world, a true South Shore Massachusetts specialty. A lot of towns near Brockton brag about having the best bar pizza, but th...
