It's MOVIE TIME! And since we are quarantined, I put a collection of movies together you will enjoy. So sit back and relax and open your eyes and ears to the "Directors Cut" and the "Directors Cut (Scene Two)". Review after PHOTOS.
It's not common that in any genre of music that you come across two people from other parts link up and make something incredible. Huge example is, Dre. & Snoop with a project called, "Doggystyle". Erick Sermon & Redman with, "What? The Album", "Muddy Waters" and "Docs da Name". DJ Premier & Guru with various projects, "Step In the Arena", "Daily Operation", "Hard to Earn", "Moment of Truth" and recently with "One of the Best Yet". #RipGuru
Ransom and Craven have that connection. Ransom was born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised in New Jersey. Craven was born in Aylmer, Quebec and raised in Montreal since 19 years of age.
Craven started listening to music at 6, chopping up samples at 12 and creating beats for your favorite rappers at 19. His influences are Dre., Erick Sermon, J-Dilla, RZA, DJ Premo, Hi-Tek, The Alchemist, The Heatmakerz, Pete Rock and more. I'm going to be one of the first ones to say, Craven will be around for awhile. His name will rise this year.
Ransom has been giving us mucho work this first and second quarter year so far. Not only has he blessed us with these two beautiful projects, but also blessed us with a full length album called, "Soul Killa". This is also an excellent project. I'm still listening to this album, so I maybe doing a review. I don't like to overflow the market with the same artist, but this artist is worth water bill.
Ransom is not a rookie. He's been around for quite sometime and should of been on the famous Def Jam Recordings label in 2006. Nothing panned out, so he's been underground pushing out bangers since.
In 2000, his friends and him purchased a studio. He knew back then to invest in himself. It's just an example on how Ransom's taken the lead for his own career early on.There are rumors he use to ghost write for Nicki Minaj. But, let's not go down that rabbit hole though, because it can side track this entire blog. The only reason I mentioned her is because it's part of his past which lead to this highlighted present. He's a heavy lyricist that has #BarsForDays.
Check the art on the album covers. They fit the criteria of the MOVIE themes. The song titles are movie titles. Even in the songs, Ransom takes us through the songs through the movie titles mixed with his street stories. "Let's try to get to this plot quicker, you not sicker, I cross you N!&&@'s like swat stickers." - Hellraiser (Scene Two) His lyrical wordplay is phenomenal.
I hesitated doing these project reviews for a couple of reasons. First, they were two short for album reviews. Second, I had to research the producer Nicholas Craven. Once I did that, I had enough material and facts to do so. With no further ado, I'm going to RATE both these projects a FIVE MIC's each. Then put them together like I think they should be and say, thank you Ransom and Nicholas for this #HipHopClassic.
Directors Cut is consisted of four incredible songs starting with the gory intro, "The Master". Then "Pulp Fiction" has the beat changing three times. Something Nick does from time to time, making the MC change his flow. Were talking only MC's please. Ransom's puzzle pieces fit all Mr. Craven's puzzle. There finished puzzle is a piece of ART like those album covers. On "Based on a True Story", Ransom spits:
Cincerely Yours,

Imagine a war with no casualties
Could never be flaws without shallow knees
I transfer this pain through piano keys and slow guitar riffs
Music that planted seeds
Pray that my auntie pull through from that damn disease
On the final cut, "Memento" the beat takes you on a soul trip while Ransom gives you honest and insane bars. This guy is quotable on every track. Check Ransom's Cosby bar below. The last person that spit a Bill Cosby Bar like this, was Che'Noir on "Win Lose or Draw" on her 2020 project, JUNO. "And none of these rap niggas never will top me, and that's a hard pill to swallow, but I'm Bill Cosby". - Che'Noir
It's like Cosby walkin' through Morehouse
You sleepin', I'll be tempted to victimize you, I mystify you
Hero to these strong black males who failed in the system, lied to
Speaking of Che'Noir, her and Eto were the only features on Directors Cut (Scene Two). This project consisted of six tracks just as powerful as the Scene One. Eto and Che' represented with BARS and lyrical content. Shout out to the King Eto and Queen Che.
I'm not going to do a track for track for the Scene Two. Just saying that it's just as or even more lyrical as Scene One is enough. Go stream these projects NOW. And also check out the other artist attached to these projects. Check out Che'Noir and Eto projects. And definetly, check out beatmaster Craven's catalog. Start with "Beatlemania" 2018 Instrumentals and "Valenti & Rizzuto" featuring ETO also in 2018. Also, check out "Craven N" and "Craven N 2".
So if your reading and watching my YouTube Batman (Ransom) and Robin (Craven), THANKS for both projects. And I look forward to both of ya'll future works to save Hip-Hop. One Love.
