Classic? That's what the Hip-Hop world is saying. I can agree it's a GREAT album with production from the Legend The Alchemist, but can Mr. James hold my attention verbally to cross that line to a #HipHopClassic? Let's find out!

Review:
I know y'all are yelling "YOUR LATE" on reviewing of this album. I'm very late. Some albums you have to sit with for awhile. Four months is enough. LOL! I'll be honest, this album got me in a zone. Not the zone you might be thinking. I'm adjusted to Alchemist mature sounds, but for some reason, Boldy James's voice is DRY.
Is he a great rapper? YES! Does he have bars for days to have you rewinding most of his verses? YES AGAIN! Some people have the entire package including the "Pay Attention To Me" VOICE like rappers like Flee Lord, Benny, Elcamino, Conway, 38Spesh, Che Noir, Klass Murda, Jadakiss, Styles P, Lil Wayne and more. Rappers with a voice you can remember or try to imitate. Like the legendary EASY-E. You know you made it, if a comedian or the world is imitating your rapping voice.
And I'm aware it's NOT all about the voice. I listen to so much music, my ears are just looking for a standout artist. A stand out VOICE. Rappers with distinctive voices usually are more famous. Think about it. Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake, Nicki Minaj (Someone check on her sanity please), Missy Eliot, Lil KIM, Rah Digga, Ice Cube and more. The good news is, this MC can rap rings around MOST of these STARS I just named.
The moment all your tokens gone, no minutes on your phone
God bless the child that hold his own, that shit hit close to home
When everything you ever love you lost to the gun
From all that you done done but down the line, that could cost you a son - B. James on "Curruth"
Not only does he have great word play, he leaves his pain, soul and truth in the booth. On "Curruth" I selected this particular quote because of the times BLACK PEOPLE are going through once again. Police violence and racial tension is HIGHER than Snoop and Willie Nelson put together. #BlackLivesMatter #RIPGodsChildren
Let's talk about RACISM for a bit. A younger black man I know told me once, a older white man told him, "If you want to piss off older WHITE men, be a RICH NIGGA!" Now, was this racist? HELL TO THE YES! Was the old white man correct? Believe it or not, yes. Hopefully this old man will get his just due, but honesty, statements like that can live with you forever. Wake up people. Build passive income through real estate, REITS, Stocks and owning a businesses. Another white man once said, "You need 6 or 7 incomes to be RICH!" - Anonymous
So I believe Boldy James is very lyrical and important to the culture. And this ALBUM proves that. I'm not sure what Mr. James' process is when he puts together an album, but the combination of The Alchemist, increased his chances of having a foot grounded in Hip-Hop.
The BEST part of this album is that it feels like an album. Something you could just put on and leave. No SKIPS! The music blends smoothly into the next track and it's like the album is a BOOK or MOVIE and you can't stop reading or watching. Like the movie "Inception" with Leonardo Dicaprio. If you missed one part of that movie, you had to rewind it. I know I did. So bring all your snacks, drinks, weed and great company and don't move listening to this project. Okay, you can at least go to the bathroom.
All the tracks are categorized in my FAVORITE file, meaning I like every track. The ROTATION tracks are lacking based off The Alchemist gritty and sinister production. On "Giant Slide" you want to just vibe with this song over and over based off the melody, but it just doesn't reach the pinnacle of a HIT RECORD though. It's just a GREAT song that you will play because you LOVE the project. I really enjoy this project.
If you look at my rotation tracks, they all have something in common. They ALL have featured artist. Not sure if Mr. James or The Alchemist added those tracks later. It seems like they did. Not that they don't go with the album, they just SPICE it up more. Benny, Freddie and Vince Staples bring more HEAT than solar energy. And yes I acknowledge Evidence. His verse was just as incredible, but that song just wasn't one of my rotation tracks.
Real name James Clay Jones III, from the city of Detroit, Michigan, but born in Atlanta, Georgia debut album, "My 1st Chemistry Set" came out in 2013. He started writing his first raps around the age of 12. And now, he's one of the MOST TALKED ABOUT MC's. So, James Clay Jones III, if your listening, THANK YOU for this great work of art. And I'd also like to THANK the beat master ALCHEMIST for blessing music with another lyricist with outstanding tracks.
This album is a #Hiphopclassic. It's just one with NOT many HIT RECORDS. This project is 5 MICS!
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on my YouTube as a subscriber.
