Review:

If you don't mind, I'd like to give my condolences to Malik B. from the Legendary Roots Crew family and friends first. We are losing many Kings & Queens in Hip-Hop and they need to be acknowledged. And I believe Black Thought paused on his album release due to the untimely passing. Please reach out to everyone this Young MC blessed with his time. Thanks in advance.

Back to the Program!

I've been itching for this project since I reviewed the first single, "Nostalgia" back on March 1st of 2020. He had quotable rhymes, so I was tuned in since. Then he released the 2nd single, "La Di Da Di" around March 6th and I also reviewed that on my Tik Tok (@marquiswalker78) and Instagram (@cincerewearceveregear). So get your favorite drink and enjoy North Carolina's own, Pat Miller.

I interviewed the Young King VIA Instagram. Let's get to know the lad, prior to critiquing the lyrical star.

1. What's good brother? Is this a mix-tape?
Answer: Yes Sir! - Pat Miller

2. Anything you want to tell me about the project?
Answer: "When I look at Hip-Hop I see it becoming more mainstream, which is great but not at the risk of the culture. I grew on 90's Hip-Hop, so "The Boombaptizm" is my way of bringing that back to the fore ground. Let's get the spirit back right." - Pat Miller

3. Where you able to use expensive samples for free since it's a mix-tape? Is that why you did a mix-tape?
Answer: "I decided to go with a mix-tape because it's less of an headache getting beats cleared. And I just wanted to give people and idea of what I can bring to the table. Definitely working on something deeper with album." - Pat Miller

4. Is this mix-tape a prequel to an album? If so, what's the title?
Answer: "First off, good questions. The Mix-tape is not a prequel. It is a stand alone project. Wasn't initially on the calendar to do. But I felt like as I was buzzin', I needed to show ppl what I can put together. So, "The Boombaptizm" is what manifested." - Pat Miller

5. Name 3 joints you really like and why?
Answers: "I Know" just because it was so real with what's going on today. From a political view and mc's view. Was able to vent about a subject that has been a top of the list in 2020. "D.I.Y" would be my second favorite. It's pretty much a mantra to my whole rap career and how my label runs. I had to become self effecient. This passion of mines is 10 years in the making. DIY is the soundtrack for the come up. Last, but not least is "Timeless." It was loaded with bars, but it let ppl know in a sense what I care about. What I stand for and it was just f#@king dope. LOL." - Pat Miller

6. Who are your favorite MC'S?
Answer: "Favorite mcs would be Nas, Andre 3000, Kendrick, Cole and a lot more. I appreciate the music, so if it speaks to me, I'm all for it." - Pat Miller

I'm more intrigued about the artist after this interview. Now let's get into this album. Below is a break down of each track and what I feel about it.

The Boombaptizm: Great intro to the Mixtape. MC let us know that he had lyrics, song balance and the track was so soothing. The song sounded like if you took the church choir to the Hood while Pat rides the track like a car with new shocks.

D.I.Y: This track really took me back to church with the sample of the woman singing. This is one of my favorite soulful tracks on this project. Great messages and that beat got me looking for my neck brace.

What's Really Good Ft. Merj: This track is a great combination of two MC'S that came in the game to make a platform. There teaching us about the hard times of life and spitting bars so the next generation doesn't have to struggle.

La Di Da Di: An HOMAGE to one of the greatest records by Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh, Mr. Miller recreates his own version only remixing the chorus of the hit record. I like what Pat does with this rendition.

Cool Summer Ft. Joey Caac: This record has a video and the artist actually let me here it early. I wasn't impressed with the singer. Sorry Joey! I recommended a remix without the singer or someone that can hold the chorus down. The track is good and the bars are nice too. I'm being honest, this is a skippable track for me. What do ya'll think? Let me know in the comments. I especially like the second verse. And the video is just both artist at a store at night, giving NO visuals of a Cool or Hot Summer. There were no women in the video either. Click Here For Video: "Cool Summer (feat. Joey Caac)"

Ugly Truth: This record is about relationships. It's a smooth tempo and clever rhyme relating to LOVE and finding or keeping it.

Nostalgia (CLICK TITLE FOR YOUTUBE VIDEO): This was the first song I've ever Pat Miller on and I became a fan. Peep some of the bars below:

"Bet you wondering where they found me/Peep the Nostalgia/This sounds classic like Illmatic back in 93'/You know me P.A.T. the MACK-MAN/they rather chase these thots like PAC-MAN." - Pat Miller

Timeless: This is one of my favorite songs on the project. Mr. Miller's Manager, Zebo Jones (@Zebo Jones) loves the track as well. This dude reminds you of DeBo from Friday on his Instagram picture. I'm guessing he's not just a manager. LOL. Kidding aside, his Manager liked the the way the song evolved. Said, "Future plans are to go into album mode and put out a solid project for the people that appreciate Hip-Hop Culture."

*I did ask Zebo Debo another question as well. I asked him, what does the album mean? He quotes, "Pat feels like the music of the culture has strayed away from it's roots, it's traditions, it's "Religion." So, this project is to represent getting baptized in the cool waters of Hip-Hop." - Zebo Jones

I Know: On this track, he's checking Hip-Hop and Black Americans that are brainwashed. Wake up people! "My people need me, for real, forshesee, they don't believe in GOD, but they cop those Yeezy's." - Pat Miller

Overall I'm giving this LP 4.2 MICS. The Mixtape did exactly what you wanted it to do, make an impact. I'm looking forward to the Project. So, Pat Miller and Zebo "Debo" Jones, if your reading and watching the YouTube below, great job on your follow up project.

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours Dear G Fam Black, Thank you once again for participating in this interview. I know you don’t do many press features, and this is a wonderful chance for your fans to learn a bit about you while still keeping some of that mystery. I truly appreciate it. Peace, G. I’m grateful for this opportunity! - G Fam Black Questions & Answers: 1. Are you originally from Brockton Massachusetts? And where are the best places to eat? Absolutely, I was born and raised in Brockton. There are plenty of great food spots here. For the best chicken, I’d recommend “Yas Chicken” and “Birdies Hot Chicken”, which are both fantastic. For breakfast, I have to mention “Alexander's Family Restaurant”. They’ve been around since I was a kid, and their omelets are incredible. For pizza, “Cape Cod Cafe Pizza” is the way to go—it's the best bar pizza in the world, a true South Shore Massachusetts specialty. A lot of towns near Brockton brag about having the best bar pizza, but th...
