Curren$y x Harry Fraud - "The Outrunners" Album REVIEW

I have to be perfectly honest with you. I've never been a Curren$y fan. His I get high and rap program didn't attract my ears. It was just a section of music I wasn't interested into. We have Snoop, Wiz, Red & Meth, etc. The good news is, I've always gave him a chance when his music came out. And today, he has my attention.

Review:

"Even those who have known me forever will find out things they didn't know with "The OutRunners." As long as I've been surviving out here, I realize we've got so much growing to do", Curren$y said in a statement. "Thank you Harry Fraud, this collaboration brought more out of me then I've ever seen or heard. I can't wait to share this project with everyone."

I couldn't have summed up this nine smooth groove project from Curren$y and heavy weight producer Harry Fraud better than Curren$y's quote above. I believe working with Mr. Fraud has elevated his game. 

Simon Cowell shouted out Harry Fraud's music years ago and before you know it, he's working with some of the best in Hip-Hop, starting with French Montana, Styles P. and of course Curren$y. This is actually their 2nd project between the two. Go check out "The Marina" that came out in 2018. Project is similar in smooth production, but with other highlighted features like, Smoke DZA, French Montana and Action Bronson. 

There seems to be a BOAT theme on their previous project in 2018 and this one. This album seems to mature with the production, as well as the content. Curren$y has stepped his subject matter and word play. And it seems he gets stronger on cuts featuring other artist such as Conway, Ross and Jim Jones. Wiz Khalifa also joins the others on this project as well. It seems to me that both projects with Harry Fraud have great guest in the house. 

And can we all say, if Rick Ross is on your project, it's probably going to be a good or great project? Or at least that one track will standout from the albums he's on. Shout out to Ross for picking quality projects to bless. 

Now, we all are experiencing producers linking up with usually one lyricist to put out incredible projects. Alchemist, Big Ghost Ltd., 38 Spesh, Harry Fraud, The Heatmakerz, DJ Premiere, Pete Rock, Roc Marciano, eto, Nicholas Craven and others are connecting with these top MC's and putting out quality work. It's great for Hip-Hop. 

This is a great joint venture with Curren$y and Mr. Fraud. I hope they continue with their chemistry and flare. On "Gold and Chrome", Curren$y quotes, "When my son is full grown/May he roll all gold and chrome/In a Chevy sittin' low/Just like his pops did before the world close." I'm loving the topic on this track. He's getting a bit personal by talking about his son, the current Black Lives Matter movement and this virus that is killing 100 of thousands. Great record. 

Let's get right to the point like this album which was only 25 minutes, which I didn't mind. Most projects nowadays are of such length. Thanks Kanye West. Someone go check on Mr. Wesssssst! 

Harry Fraud get's a 95 score on this project. Curren$y has stepped his word play putting him in the 3.5 category of MC'S. And this entire project is something to cruise to via boat or other vehicle. This project is in the running for album of the year with a rating of 4 MICS. And some of those tracks will also be up for single of the year.
