Review:

Have you ever had a friend that promotes there relative if they do music? I'm 99.9% sure you just bobbed your head up and down. I have a friend that said this to me recently. I'm like here we go again. lol.

No, I was actually excited to hear her nephew. I listen to various new artist on a daily. So, I did just that. I listened to a couple of singles from the lad and I was impressed. To my knowledge, at the time he was putting together a project. Maybe this one. So I was tuned in from a far, checking his Instagram if he promoted something.

I'm not sure how I missed this album he dropped this year though. I blame it on all the good music coming out this year. It's keeping me busy. I have like five more reviews and Friday is around the corner with more NEW releases. I'm not complaining. This is me celebrating. LOL.

The good news is, I was able to track him down for a quick Instagram slew of questions. And thanks Marquis for answering. Much appreciated. And thanks to all the artist that are actually responding when I'm reaching out for questions. The information just makes the blogs and YouTube reviews more educational.

Let's start off with him having the BEST rap name in the WORLD. You cannot go wrong with the first half of that name. It's something about the name Marquis, that I'm in love with. I can't connect the dots on this one. It's the best name on the planet. Probably other planets too. LOL!

But when I did asked him about his name. He quotes, "Marquis is my name. Filthy is an acronym for Fresh Inspire Truth Honest Love Youth. We can all agree, Marquis is a beautiful name. That's clear right? But that acronym is just as beautiful. That acronym actually sums up this young man's album, "Deeper Than Filthy (Rap).

And his title brings up another story. So on Tidal the album is called, Deeper Than Rap. And online in articles, it's called, Deeper Than Filthy. So you know since I have Mr. Filthy's attention, I asked him that question. He quotes, "It was deeper than filthy, but I had to re-upload it to fix a mix and I called it deeper than rap on accident. lol." So if you were wondering about the title, that's a gem for ya.

On his 2016 release of the album "The Glo Up", he has a song called "Plan A". And when you listen to this album, you here him mention "Plan A" on a couple of more tracks. So I asked him what's behind that. He said, "Plan A started with just that song. It was something I came up with to name the journey I started making a career out of music. I kept saying it, people kept saying it and I eventually made it into the name of my team/label."

If you notice, the album has two volumes. Twelve songs that cater to a theme and then a bonus song on volume 2. For some reason, I had a feeling it was a story behind that. And you know I asked him. LOL. He quotes, "Oh His Pain was really important so for me put on there but its not really apart of the story of the album so I just made it like that so its kind of a "bonus song" type thing." It did seem odd to me, but I like the song.

On Tidal the album doesn't show the producers. So I asked him where to find them. He connected me with the information and told me he gets most of his beats from YouTube. Shout out to all the producers out there on all platforms. And I'm very happy that he selected these beats from these YouTube Producers. Marquis Filthy beat selection is incredible. These beats seem like their from one producer and one artist working on an album. You have great taste in beat selection Mr. Filthy.

Now lets get to this 21 year old's lyrical ability. He puts all those beats in the cobra clutch and the four nelson. Or the headlock. Marquis the rapper LOVES wrestling, so I figured I'd fit that in here somewhere. Maybe he can connect with Westside Gunn (Huge Wrestling Fan) and be ringside. That would be a great collaboration as well. I'm putting that in the air. Or imagine Benny or Conway with Filthy?

Mr. Filthy only has three features on this project. Two singers and a MC. The singers are Gianna & Taina and they only bless the beginning of "God's Interlude" where he raps, "See the Bible scares like me like the news, too many questions, too much fucking rules." Now the song title fits the lyrics, but I'm pretty sure he purposely rebelled with the title with looking at booty and cursing in the song. Short (song), but Sweet.

On "Windows" artist Yaco provides the hook and then drops a couple of bars. I'm looking forward to hearing more from Yaco. Yaco, if your reading this, shout out your information.

I talked long enough. I just wanted to give this album just due. I'm rating this album a #hiphopclassic. I didn't really feel track 10, but the other songs make up for that song. And I bet it will be someone's favorite because it's not a bad song.

This album is his 5 MICS. If your reading this KING, THANK YOU for the content. You are in the running for album of the year and artist of the year as well. And you have one more fan brother.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on my YouTube as a subscriber.

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours

G Fam Black VS Ceverely Yours Dear G Fam Black, Thank you once again for participating in this interview. I know you don’t do many press features, and this is a wonderful chance for your fans to learn a bit about you while still keeping some of that mystery. I truly appreciate it. Peace, G. I’m grateful for this opportunity! - G Fam Black Questions & Answers: 1. Are you originally from Brockton Massachusetts? And where are the best places to eat? Absolutely, I was born and raised in Brockton. There are plenty of great food spots here. For the best chicken, I’d recommend “Yas Chicken” and “Birdies Hot Chicken”, which are both fantastic. For breakfast, I have to mention “Alexander's Family Restaurant”. They’ve been around since I was a kid, and their omelets are incredible. For pizza, “Cape Cod Cafe Pizza” is the way to go—it's the best bar pizza in the world, a true South Shore Massachusetts specialty. A lot of towns near Brockton brag about having the best bar pizza, but th...

P-Ro is 12 FOR 12

Dear P-Ro, Thank you once again for participating in this interview. The year of 2025 was definitely a great year for you. 12 Albums in 12 months is something to be proud of. Your consistency, drive and performance shows, if you work hard, the world is yours. Questions & Answers: 01 Releasing one album per month for a year is a monumental, almost athletic creative feat. What was the core philosophy or personal need that drove this marathon? Was it to break a habit, prove something, or simply because the music was overflowing? -It was actually a little bit of all those, and wanting to challenge myself with a goal and try to get better at being organized. The list of projects I made in December looks different than what I ended up doing. If I wasn't dedicated to monthly drops, I probably wouldn't have made 4-5 of the ones I did. It's great to have a team that's like-minded and can dive in with me when I need them and make great, fun music together and share it with th...

How To Support Your Local Rapper/Producer?

The Core Problem: The Illusion of Support vs. Real Financial Impact Many fans believe that streaming a song, watching a music video, or following an artist on social media is "support." While this is valuable for visibility, it provides almost no direct income, especially for artists without major label backing. The Streaming Chasm:  It's well-known that streaming payouts are meager. An artist might need  hundreds of thousands of streams  just to earn a modest monthly rent. For underground rappers without playlist placements or algorithmic favor, this is an insurmountable hurdle. The "Exposure" Fallacy:  Many shows, especially for opening acts or in competitive markets, are "pay-to-play" or offer minimal guarantees. Playing for "exposure" doesn't pay bills. So, if streaming and low-tier shows don't cut it, how  can  fans genuinely support rappers, especially underground ones? Let's break it down by impact. Tier 1: The Lifeblood ...
